What to expect from our pinnaplasty in the UK

Before the procedure

During your consultation, Dr. Naghmeh Naderi will take the time to understand your concerns, review your medical history, and outline your options. You may need to undergo routine tests before the procedure.

This is also the perfect opportunity to ask any questions. Our team is here to help you make a fully informed decision and guide you every step of the way.

The procedure

Pinnaplasty is usually performed under local anaesthetic, though general anaesthetic may be an option based on your preference. The procedure typically takes one to two hours.

During the operation, your surgeon will make a small incision behind the ear to access the cartilage. Depending on your desired outcome, they may reshape, fold, or remove portions of the cartilage before securing the ear in its new position with stitches.

Recovery

After the procedure, you’ll rest comfortably under our care. Most patients return home the same day.

It’s normal to experience some soreness, numbness, or mild swelling in the days following pinnaplasty. To support healing, we’ll provide a headband or compressive garment for you to wear during the initial recovery phase.

Many people are ready to return to work or school within a week. Full healing typically takes about six weeks, with final results becoming more noticeable as residual swelling gradually subsides, usually by the three-month mark.
